How to Import your Orders with the Root Planner

Say goodbye to the days of manually mapping routes and sending drivers with the wrong meals to the wrong houses, and the days of making your customers wait endlessly for their deliveries without any updates.

We’ve told you all about how the Root Planner is going to change your life and transform your delivery operations. And in case you forgot, just remember this: we’re about to save you 80% of your time. But now that you know the key to your success, we’re not just going to leave you to figure it out yourself.

What do I do after I create an account?

We understand how intimidating it can be to adopt a new software, even if you’re still in the early stages of your business. But we’ve designed the Root Planner to make the transition as seamless as possible. Let’s start with the very first step after you create your account: importing your orders.

All you need is a way to take all the orders you receive and import them via CSV. What does this mean exactly? It means you need to sign up for the Root Planner, where you’re not manually inputting orders into your system one at a time, your eyes burning as you stare at your computer screen for the tenth straight hour. It means that by using a CSV file, you can import large numbers of orders and their associated details at a time.

Whatever system you’re currently using to have customers order, or however you already systemize your orders, it’s going to be simple to transfer this information to the Root Planner. Import from Excel or CSV, or using an API integration. Simply watch the video below to see how.

How to Import your Orders

Uploading Orders Manually

Trust us, we love automation and the efficiency it grants, but we also understand the value in flexibility. We know that sometimes it’s just easier for you to add an order manually, whatever the reason. Unlike other route planners, we offer both automation and customization.

So, for how to create a manual order:

Just like before, click the orders tab on the left side of your screen, then select the blue “add order” button. From there, you’ll see options to select your delivery date, the hub, the customer, as well as to add delivery notes, an extra description, and the address. As you input the address, you’ll even see it appear on a map right below. When you’re done, don’t forget to press save in the upper right corner!

How to Manually Add Orders

We value your time, so we’ve designed the Root Planner to ensure a seamless transition, no matter what system you’ve used in the past. For once, there’s no tedious, exhausting process of adopting a brand new software. With options to both automatically and manually upload your customer orders, you can guarantee a flexible and efficient onboarding to a system where everything is in one place.
